I Passed My Comprehensive Examinations!

Wow! I am still in a state of awe right now. I still can’t believe that I passed my comprehensive examinations triumphantly. All my preparations through those sleepless nights and sacrificed vacation days paid off. To be honest, after taking the exams last December 3-5, 2014, I felt like I will fail my STATISTICS, I am not really good at numbers and more so to analyzing which statistical tool is the best to use, but I still passed it. Great revelations are the results of my SPECIALIZATION (EDTECH), PHILOSOPHY and RESEARCH. I received High Pass ratings on these three areas, and it felt like I am walking on air right now.. ha-ha!

So what’s the next step after passing my comps? Well, after proving to the Philippine Normal University that I am eligible to continue in this course of study, it’s time to prepare for my thesis proposal. I already have a topic in mind, and I am still currently gathering my literature to support my conceptual framework. Hopefully, by this summer, I will be able to meet the Director of the Graduate Research Office and discuss with her my thesis proposal.

The sweetest blessing one can ever receive is something that is won through hard work and prayers. Thank you so much Lord! I give you all the glory.

To Take or Not To Take?

Comprehensive Examination

  • According to its web definition, comprehensive examination (commonly abbreviated as comps or compre) is an intensive examination testing a student's proficiency in some special field of knowledge.
  • According to some of my friends, who already experienced this, comprehensive examination, which will last for five or more days, is a "judgement week." During these days, the graduate student will prove himself that he is worthy to pursue the masters degree and proceed with his research study.
  • According to my own perception, comprehensive examination is like "I'm caught between the devil and the deep blue sea," I don't know if I will take it or not... BANG!
Am I afraid? Yes ... kind of... Though I feel confident that my professors did the best job they could do to help me immerse as an Educational Technologist, but I still have that little space for doubt if I could really make it... If I could get straight High Pass for all those exams... If I could Pass even one exam... These thoughts really make me human... Yes, I'm afraid of uncertainties.

I'm currently talking to myself now...
I should decide whether to take it this coming April or this August or not... or never? Should I just settle for acquiring the units and stop aiming for its completion?

Time is of the essence.

I need to decide.
