2016 Nutrition Month Celebration

The National Nutrition Council announces the theme for this year's Nutrition Month Celebration. The NNC will lead the whole nation in this celebration, with the purpose to disseminate nutrition-related messages through the said theme. Specifically, the celebration aims to:
  1. create awareness on the importance of proper infant and young child feeding practices, specifically the exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and giving appropriate complementary food after six months with continuous breastfeeding;
  2. promote collaboration among stakeholders at the national and local levels for health programs for families with pregnant women and children less than two years old; and
  3. serve as a venue for launching of the Early Childhood Care and Development Intervention Package (ECCD-IP) for the first 1000 days.
DepEd enjoins all schools to participate in this celebration by undertaking meaningful activities which will highlight the importance of the first 1000 days of life. However, it is emphasized that the Engaged Time-on-Task policy of the DepEd should be observed as stipulated in the DepEd Order No. 5, s. 2005.

2016 DepEd National Uniform for Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel

The Department of Education issued its Memorandum No. 84, s. 2016 last May 20 to set additional guidelines on DepEd National Uniforms for Teaching and Non-Teaching Personnel. The following are the set guidelines:

1. The national uniform for male teaching and non-teaching personnel shall be as follows:

                 a. Polo: White and Off-White (half button)
                 b. Pants: Dark Gray or Black

2. The national uniform for female teaching and non-teaching personnel shall be as follows:

                 a. Teaching Personnel (including principal)

                               i. Blouse: Beige and Pink
                              ii. Pants: Black and Dark Gray

                 b. Non-Teaching Personnel

                              i. Blouse: Green or Blue
                             ii. Pants: Dark Gray or Black

3. The textile materials to be used in the uniform should be a combination of polyester, rayon    and cotton. The color specification of the uniforms will be limited to a range of two colors. See the details below.

4. For better appreciation, designs and color specifications can be downloaded on www.deped.gov.ph.

5. The effectivity of wearing the prescribed uniforms will be on August 1, 2016. Said uniforms shall be used for School Years (SYs) 2016-2018.

Visual Graphics Designing NCIII

Since I am handling Visual Graphics Designing Courses in Grade 10, I was encouraged by my Head Teacher to take the Visual Graphics Designing NCIII Assessment. The Tech-Voc courses embedded in the K to 12 curriculum for Junior and Senior High are following the TESDA’s Training Regulations (TR) and based on TESDA’s guidelines, for a teacher to qualify in teaching any Tech-Voc courses, one must be an NC passer himself and to become an assessor of Tech-Voc students, the teacher must take the Training Methodology (TM) course.

So, last July 20, 2015, equipped with my teaching experiences and armed with lots of courage, I took the VGD NCIII assessment at Interface, Caloocan City. Though I never attended any training about this course, I still took the risk. I was confident because I’ve been doing Visual Graphic Designing with different applications for quite some years already. Somehow, I believed that my reservoir of skills and knowledge wouldn’t fail. And Thanks be to God, because I did it! I passed this VGD NCIII Assessment. My next goal is to take the Training Methodology Course. 




The following are the set of competencies that are being assessed for Visual Graphic Design NCIII:

Basic Competencies:
  1. Lead workplace communication
  2. Lead small teams
  3.  Develop and practice negotiation skills
  4. Solve problems related to work activities
  5. Use mathematical concepts and techniques
  6. Use relevant technologies 
Common Competencies:
  1.  Apply quality standards
  2.  Perform computer operations

Core Competencies
  1. Develop design studies
  2. Create vector graphics using a graphic application
  3. Create raster graphics using a graphic application
  4. Develop designs for print media
  5. Develop designs for electronic media
  6. Develop designs for product packaging
  7. Design booth and product/window display

School Calendar for School Year 2016-2017

The School Calendar for School Year (SY) 2016-2017 was released last April 22, 2016 through DepEd Order No. 23 s. 2016. According the order, the School Year shall begin on Monday, June 13, 2016 and shall end on Friday, April 7, 2017. The SY will consist of 202 days inclusive of the five-day In-Service Training.

Natatanging Guro ng Taon

My School Year 2015-2016 ended with a bang! I was overjoyed to know that I was chosen as the “Natatanging Guro ng Taon” in our school. Though this was unexpected, I accepted it with a heart full of gratitude to all our administrators who believed in me and in my humble ways of promoting quality teaching and learning experiences among my fellow teachers and students.

The awarding was held last March 31, 2016, during our Recognition Program wherein I was also assigned as an emcee. I felt even more honored because it was Mrs. Salvacion V. David, our school head herself, who presented the award for me.

To return this so much love and appreciation I felt, I will continue to fulfill my duties and responsibilities throughout my years of service as a teacher with passion, dedication and a mission to promote 21st Century teaching and learning. To God be the highest glory. J

My Appointment as Master Teacher I

The greatest gift that I received this year was my reclassification as Master Teacher I.
I have dreamed of this ever since I started my teaching career. Though I never thought that the criteria set for selecting a Master Teacher are tough. Still, I pursued this dream and created a game plan to qualify.

Unfortunately, I lost in our first ranking last 2014 and placed second to my fellow teacher, but I did not give up. I know there is still a chance for me. I prayed and prayed to God for a miracle to happen – that a new MT I item will open for me.

Just one month after the last ranking, my prayers were answered. My head teacher informed me that two Master Teacher I items will be opened for reclassification. Again, I applied for it, and all thanks be to God, I was able to acquire this position.

Grade 5 National Training of Trainers for K to 12 Basic Education Program (BEP)

I was again so honored to be invited by the DepEd Central Office to become one of the Chief Trainers for the Grade 5 National Training of Trainers for K to 12 Basic Education Program. To be invited for the second time could somehow mean that I performed well during the last NTOT for Grade 4. I was indeed so thankful for the invitation, and immediately informed my school head, Mrs. David, about it. She was happy and proud of it and she gave her blessings that I could attend the trainings and workshops in preparation for the NTOT.

Last November 8-13, 2015, I attended the Session Guide Writeshop and orientation of Chief Trainers for the Grade 5 NTOT for the K to 12 BEP. The six-day writeshop and orientation equipped us with knowledge, skills and values on how to facilitate training sessions effectively.


I enjoyed the experience as much as I learned a lot from this writeshop and orientation together with my fellow chief trainers. It was a great experience to work and learn with them. I was even assigned to discuss the session guide for EPP-ICT and Entrepreneurship Content of our team during the critiquing, which is indeed one of the most palpitating moment of my life. Haha!


Just before the writeshop and orientation ended, we were able accomplish our session guides and training materials for the NTOT. We were instructed by our Focal Person, Dr. Rogel Doñes to wait for the invitation that will be sent in our respective stations.



The Grade 5 EPP National Training of Trainers for Luzon Cluster was held at Brentwood Apartelle last January 10-16, 2016, while the NTOT for Visayas and Mindanao Cluster was held at Eco Tech Center, Cebu City last February 6-20, 2016. Just like last year’s NTOT for Grade 4, the learning episodes I experienced this year  was also fun-filled, challenging and rewarding. I never thought that I would come to this point that I will be handling training sessions for facilitators who are even more seasoned than me. The following are the topics assigned to me by Dr. Rogel and Madam Glenda:

·         Learning Resource Management and Development System
·         EPP-ICT and Entrepreneurship Content Workshop
·         Project Method
